Stichting Internet Domeinregistratie Nederland (SIDN), the national registrar for .nl domains, has a specific requirement for registering .nl domains that is quite different from registrars of .com, .net and most other domains. SIDN requires that all .nl domains are hosted on a server BEFORE they can be registered. You therefore will have to create a hosting account for whatever .nl domain you plan to register BEFORE you try to register that domain. Furthermore, other than most registrars around the globe, SIDN required that the DNS entries are setup in a particular ORDER ... e.g., the "webmail. ..." entry need to preceed the "mail. ..." entry in the DNS zone files. That means, after creating a .nl domain on the server, you need to click on the "DNS" tab of that domain and edit the entries if they do not appear in the exact same order as you see in below graphic -- "ipseo.nl" is a placeholder for your actual .nl domain name -- all other values should be exactly as you see them, in the same order.

You should test if your setup is correct before trying to register the domain ... any DNS edits on the server will be reflected immediately in the test results. (NOTE that all this ONLY concerns .nl domains, not .com, .net, etc.!)

--> SIDN Nameserver check

Please enter the following data .. ony change the actual domain name to your's ("test.nl" is a placeholder).

The test result should look something like this:

errors=0, warnings=4, informational=0
(...)

"warnings" are okay, but there should be no "error"!
